Granville Island Brewing "Robson Street" Hefeweizen

The Robson street Hefeweizen is named after one of Vancouver’s most prestigious strips. It is often subject to unscheduled closure due to celebrating crowds after winning gold medals, world cup wins (doesn’t matter what country) and the like. There was also that Stanley cup riot in 1994…

Today the Canucks are one win away from the cup finals, and this deep in the playoffs, Robson street is the centre point for all post-game celebrations.

This hef goes well with summer hockey. This beer has a nice foggy appearance and a fruity aroma of apricot and apple. Overall itnis a well rounded beer with a moderately intense taste and with a slightly tart aftertaste.

Granville Island Brewing False Creek Raspberry Ale

GIB did a really great job taking “Fraser Valley Raspberries” and adding it to a nice clean-tasting ale to make a beer that tastes like a raspberry beer, eh.. (The kind you find in a second hand store).

It is really pink when you pour it, and still pink in the glass. The head and body are really full. The raspberry taste is obvious, but not so overwhelming. For my liking the flavor is not subtle enough, giving me the impression that it is a novelty beer that won’t be around for long…

In the meantime I would try this one out on a sunny day, cold, preferably in the early afternoon:)
